Deposits and Payments FAQ
Marea handles stay payments in two parts and confirms each step manually. This FAQ explains the process for new stays so you know exactly what to pay, when, and how it is recorded.
When do I pay?
You do not pay anything when you submit a request. After the Marea team approves your request, you receive an email with payment instructions. At that point, you pay a deposit of 50% of the stay total. The remaining 50% is paid in cash when you arrive.
Submit payment within 12 hours of approval to keep your dates. Follow the deadline in your email and personal payment page: if payment is not submitted in time, the request can be cancelled and the dates released. No guest account or password is needed to open your personal payment link; do not share it.
How do I pay the deposit?
The deposit is paid manually using a regional method that depends on your currency. For US dollars, the options are Zelle, PayPal, or Venmo. For Canadian dollars, Interac. For Mexican pesos, bank transfer. Your approval email and payment page show the exact amount and instructions for your method.
For Interac, the security answer is provided separately and is never shown in the public instructions. Never send a deposit to details that did not come from your approval email or payment page.
I sent the deposit. Is it settled?
Not yet. After you send the deposit, you report it on your payment page. That report tells Marea you sent it, but it does not mark the payment as received. The Marea team verifies that the funds have actually arrived and then confirms the deposit separately.
When you report the deposit, the amount and any exchange rate are locked so the figure does not change while it is being verified.
What about the cash balance on arrival?
The remaining 50% is paid in cash at arrival. Check your approval email for the amount and currency, and plan ahead for how you will obtain and carry it. Paying in cash does not replace the deposit; a stay is not reserved without one.
What if I cancel?
For guest cancellations made at least seven days before the check-in date, the full amount paid is refundable. For cancellations made fewer than seven days before check-in, 50% of the entire amount paid is refundable. Dates are based on Cabo local time and the date the cancellation is recorded.
Any refund estimate you see is not the same as a processed refund. Contact the team by replying to your email to cancel.
I booked before this process. Does it apply to me?
Some earlier stays were set up with an older card payment process. If your stay already has a payment page with different instructions, follow what your personal payment page shows.
